Nintendo Wii For the Family

I have been a fan of Nintendo since the 80’s. I grew up in the 80’s and I owned the original Nintendo system.

Over the years I have owned other systems but I continue to revert back to Nintendo. They offer games for all ages and a wide variety at that.

It was when my daughter who is now 10, went to a friends house and played their Nintendo Wii that I realized how addicting this system was.

Nearly everyday in the summer her and many of the kids in our neighborhood would stand in line to play on the Wii.

I didn’t play on the Wii until I actually owned one. In fact, I didn’t play it until my kids were asleep.

I waited a year after the Nintendo Wii came out to purchase one. I wanted to make sure this wasn’t some hyped up thing that would die off after a year.

I ended up buying one off Ebay rather than wait and fight for one at Wal-Mart, Gamestop or anywhere else.

To watch my kids play the Wii together is wonderful. They are having fun even on days when it may be too cold, wet or hot outside to play. Not only that, they are exercising unlike many of the other popular systems.

The first time I played tennis on the Wii I realized people who had been complaining about being sore the next day were not kidding. My arms and shoulders were sore but it was great because I knew I was using my muscles that needed to be worked!

I played the boxing game with my daughter and had to stop because I got out of breath. You really do get a work out!

My son Caleb who has developmental delays loves the Wii. This system has given him the opportunity to play and interact with other children. It has helped him work on his hand/eye coordination as well.

The games depending on the age category, are great. They really do fit with the age groups they place them in.

My daughter enjoys playing the Wii since she can also play some of her favorites from Sega such as Sonic the Hedgehog, Pokemon and I can play Namco Museum which has Galaga (one of my all time favorites). You do have to purchase a Nintendo Game Cube controller and memory card, but it is worth it. I went to my local GameStop and purchased them used.

I was also able to download some of the Nintendo & Sega classics (games). That became a plus for me when I discovered that some of the games I played at my daughters age, I could play once again.

The Nintendo Wii is for everyone young and old. When you read reviews about the Wii see what they are really focusing on. Most of the articles and reviews I have read are about the graphics and games mostly by the teens to 20’s age group.

My upcoming articles will be focusing on a few of the Nintendo Wii games that my children and I have played. Some of them were featured in the Parents magazine just before Christmas.

If you are in the market to find something that you can do with your children or grandchildren and have fun then I recommend the Nintendo Wii.
